Blending Ideas

This tea tastes like campfire smoke, so juniper naturally works well. Also, orange peel and spices are worth trying. Mint can be enjoyable as well.

Story

Lapsang leaves are smoke-dried over a pinewood fire. There are many origin stories of Lapsang Souchong, and like many Chinese stories, often blend reality and myth. The earliest origin story is from 1646 and recounts how the tea was created by accident when villages in Wuyi (in Fujian Province) were fleeing their region due to war. To speed up the process, the tea was then dried over a fire and buried in sacks. Later upon returning to their village, the tea-makers sold their tea to Dutch traders who thought the new smoking process did a better job of preserving its flavor.
