Blending Ideas
Since citrus is already present in Earl Grey, they suit each other well. Virtually any fruit, flower, and spice works (apart from turmeric). For herbs, try rooibos, but use them with trepidation.
Story
Earl Grey tea is flavored with the oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit with flavors between lemon and navel oranges. Like many great inventions and recipes, Earl Grey is thought to have been discovered by accident when tea from China was shipped to England alongside bergamot oranges and the citruses flavored the tea. Earl Grey is the most popular flavored tea in England and America.
